("Zanpitsu" means a letter of death) An essay from the early Edo period. One volume. Written by Yamaga Soko. Completed in 1675 ( Enpo 3 ). At the age of 54, Soko was sent to the Ako domain in Banshu after violating the shogunate's taboo name rule. In this autobiographical letter, he wrote to his younger brother and his adopted son-in-law about his feelings before and after exile. (「残筆」は遺書の意) 江戸前期の随筆。一巻。山鹿素行著。延宝三年(一六七五)成立。幕府の忌諱にふれて播州赤穂藩に預けられた五四歳の素行が、その地で弟と婿養子とにあてて配流前後の心境などを記した自叙伝形式の書簡。
