Quiver - Yugi

Japanese: 靫 - ゆぎ
Quiver - Yugi
A type of weapon carried with arrows in ancient times. Also written as 'Yuki'. A vertically long box-shaped quiver over 80 cm long was discovered in the Aizu Otsukayama Tomb from the latter half of the early Kofun period, but in the later Kofun period, kite-shaped quivers were used, as seen in the warrior clay figurines and murals on decorated tombs. Quivers were carried on the back, and were pronounced "yuki" until the Heian period. Among the sacred treasures of Ise Shrine are the Hime-Yuki and Kaba-Yuki.
