〘noun〙 A provision in medieval samurai law that states that if land or other real property rights are not actually controlled for more than 20 years, the real property rights will be extinguished by prescription. In actual court documents, it appears that the rights are transferred when proof is given that someone else has held the land for 20 consecutive years. Note that this law did not apply to the seizure of Shinto or Buddhist lands or the head office affairs of a Jito (land steward). Nenjo Law. *Shirakawa Hon Toji Yuri Documents - 8th, Toji complaint from July 1356 (first year of Enbun) " It is a matter of the two- year record of the law. This land has been held for 220 years, and it is not reasonable to argue that it is acceptable or acceptable , which is the first thing in the samurai code."
