〘 noun 〙 An inspection method institutionalized in the mid-Edo period. It involves inspecting the quality of rice at maturity and determining the rice yield for that year. It is not done for different types of land, but rather involves calculating the harvest yield for all cultivated land in a village by looking at the average yield per tsubo. Initially, it was only implemented in villages under the Shogunate's territory, but later on, more and more private landowners followed suit. → Tsubo-kari.
