Thermobalance (thermo-balance)

Thermobalance (thermo-balance)
A device used to measure the change in mass of an object at high temperatures as a function of temperature and time, thereby determining the thermal properties of the material. It generally consists of a balance, an electric furnace, and a temperature control and measurement section. Because the balance is affected by heat, a special balance with a quartz beam, which has a low coefficient of expansion, was used. However, advances in insulation technology have made it possible to use various general-purpose balances (manual balances, direct reading balances, electronic balances, etc.), and electronic balances, which are easy to use for automatic and remote measurement, are preferred.
