A Kabuki kyogen play commonly known as Nezumi Kozo. Five acts. Written by Kawatake Shinshichi II (→ Kawatake Mokuami). First performed at the Edo Ichimuraza in 1857. It is a robberies story about Nezumi Kozo Jirokichi, a thief who specialized in stealing from feudal lords' houses in the late Edo period, and was a huge hit, running for over 100 days. 歌舞伎狂言。通称『鼠小僧』。5幕。2世河竹新七 (→河竹黙阿弥 ) 作。安政4 (1857) 年江戸市村座初演。江戸時代後期に大名屋敷を専門に盗みを働いた盗賊鼠小僧次郎吉を主人公とした白浪物で,100日余も興行を続ける大当りをとった。初演は4世市川小団次。
