Year of death: February 28, 1566 (March 19, 1566) Year of birth: Bunmei 15 (1483) A military commander in Hizen (Saga Prefecture, Nagasaki Prefecture) during the Sengoku period. His original name was Masazumi. He became a monk and took the name Sengan (Sengan). He was the son of Sumiaki. In July 1539 (Tenbun 8), Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiharu of the Muromachi Shogunate bestowed the name Haruzumi and the official position of Shuri-no-taifu, and presented him with a sword, a horse, agarwood, gold, a tray, coins, and other items as a token of appreciation. During Haruzumi's reign, the Arima clan expanded its influence within Hizen, and came to control six counties in the province. However, the entry for July 3, Tenbun 8 in the Odate Tsuneoki Diary, which states that he was the guardian of Hizen, requires further consideration. The Christian daimyo Omura Sumitada was Haruzumi's second son, but Haruzumi himself oppressed Christians.
