A thief from the late Edo period. He specialized in stealing from samurai residences, but was caught and executed in 1832. He became famous through his portrayal as a noble thief in lectures by Shorin Hakuen II and in the kabuki play Nezumi Komon Haruno Shingata by Kawatake Mokuami. 江戸後期の盗賊。武家屋敷を専門に盗みをはたらいたが,1832年に捕らえられ処刑された。2世松林(しょうりん)伯円の講釈や河竹黙阿弥の歌舞伎狂言《鼠小紋東君新形(ねずみこもんはるのしんがた)》などで義賊として脚色され有名になった。
