A district of Iwade City in northern Wakayama Prefecture. Formerly the village of Negoro. It was the location of Negoro-ji Temple, the head temple of the Shingon sect. Until it was burned down by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the temple had a large estate and the entire temple area was called Negoro. It occupies the top of the alluvial fan of the Negoro River (a tributary of the Kinokawa River) at the southern foot of the Izumi Mountains. Near Negoro-ji Temple is the Civic Folklore Museum. The Negoro Highway leads to Kazefuki Pass in the north. [Yoichi Koike] [Reference] | |On the left is the Great Pagoda (national treasure), and on the right is the Daidenpo-do Hall.
