Ming History - Ming-shi (English spelling)

Japanese: 明史 - みんし（英語表記）Ming-shi; Ming-shih

A historical record of the Ming Dynasty in China. One of the official histories. Compiled by order of Zhang Tingyu and others of the Qing Dynasty, it has 336 volumes. It was completed in 1739 (the 4th year of the Qianlong era) based on the Draft Ming History. It consists of 4 volumes of catalogues, 24 volumes of annals, 75 volumes of records, 13 volumes of tables, and 220 volumes of biographies. It took many scholars 60 years to compile it, making it an outstanding work among the official histories of the dynasties.

中国，明代に関する紀伝体の歴史書。正史の一つ。清の張廷玉らの奉勅撰。 336巻。『明史稿』をもとにして乾隆4 (1739) 年完成。目録4巻，本紀 24巻，志 75巻，表 13巻，列伝 220巻から成り，多数の学者を動員し，60年の歳月を費やして編修され，歴代正史のなかでは傑出したもの。
