Frullania

Japanese: ヤスデゴケ（英語表記）Frullania

A general term for the genus Frullania , a moss family in the family Polytrichum. It is the second largest genus of moss after Polytrichum, with about 900 species recorded worldwide, particularly prevalent in the tropics. There are about 30 species in Japan. The leaves overlap like a fallen tile, divided into two parts, the dorsal and ventral, and the ventral part is pouch-shaped. The ventral leaves are prominent. The perianth is pouch-shaped with a beak-like mouth. F. tamarisci (L.) Dum. grows on tree trunks and rocks throughout the country, from lowlands to highlands. The plant body is green to reddish brown and has a varnish-like luster.

苔類のヤスデゴケ科ヤスデゴケ属Frullaniaの総称。苔類ではハネゴケ属に次ぐ大きな属で世界に約900種が記録され，とくに熱帯に多い。日本には約30種ある。葉は倒瓦状に重なり，背片と腹片の2片に分かれ，腹片は袋状。腹葉は顕著。花被は袋状でくちばし状の口をもつ。シダレヤスデゴケF.tamarisci (L.) Dum.は全国の低地から高地の樹幹や岩上に生育する。植物体は緑色～赤褐色でニス様のつやがある。
