A freshwater fish belonging to the Epiceratodus family of the lungfish subclass (illustration). It lives in the rivers of Queensland, Australia. The aboriginal people called it barramunda. Fossils of the Ceratodus genus have been found in Europe, Colorado, America, India, and other places, but a strange fish discovered in Queensland in 1869 was determined to be a lungfish of this genus, which was thought to be extinct, based on the shape of its teeth, and was given the scientific name Ceratodus forsteri .

肺魚亜綱エピセラトダス科に属する淡水魚（イラスト）。オーストラリアのクイーンズランド州の河川にすむ。原住民はバラムンダbarramundaと呼んだ。セラトダス類の化石はヨーロッパ，アメリカのコロラド州，インドなどで発見されていたが，1869年クイーンズランドで発見された奇魚が，歯の形態からすでに絶滅したと考えられていたこの属の肺魚であるとされ，Ceratodus forsteriという学名が与えられた。
