Neoschwagerina
A fusulinid worm of the Neoschwagerinidae family of the kingdom Protista and phylum Foraminifera. It is large and swollen, with a spindle-shaped shell consisting of a tectum and a honeycomb-like ceriotheca. It has a spiral septum that crosses the axial septum at a right angle, and a minor axial septum that runs parallel to the former. It is widely distributed in the Tethys Ocean and in northern and western Asia. It is an index fossil of the Neoschwagerinidae Zone in the Middle Permian System. (→ Foraminifera)
