Neoschwagerina

Japanese: ネオシュワゲリナ（英語表記）Neoschwagerina

A fusulinid worm of the Neoschwagerinidae family of the kingdom Protista and phylum Foraminifera. It is large and swollen, with a spindle-shaped shell consisting of a tectum and a honeycomb-like ceriotheca. It has a spiral septum that crosses the axial septum at a right angle, and a minor axial septum that runs parallel to the former. It is widely distributed in the Tethys Ocean and in northern and western Asia. It is an index fossil of the Neoschwagerinidae Zone in the Middle Permian System. (→ Foraminifera)

原生生物界有孔虫門ネオシュワゲリナ科の紡錘虫。大型でふくれた紡錘形をなし，殻はテクタムと蜂窩状ケリオテーカからなる。軸隔壁に直角に交わる旋回隔壁と，前者に平行する副軸隔壁がある。テチス海域，アジアの北部，西部などに広く分布。ペルム系中部ネオシュワゲリナ帯の示準化石。（→有孔虫類）
