Nutagawa River

A river that flows southeast through central-eastern Hiroshima Prefecture. It originates south of Takanosuyama in the Kibi Plateau and empties into the Seto Inland Sea in Mihara City. It is about 50 kilometers long and has a drainage area of ​​about 550 square kilometers. The upper reaches are relatively gentle, but the midstream dissects the Kibi Plateau to form a gorge, and from Higashi-Hiroshima City downstream it flows in a straight line in a southeasterly direction. There used to be boat transport from Funaki in the former Yamato Town (now Mihara City) downstream. The multi-purpose Mukunashi Dam is located on the Mukunashi River, a tributary of the Numata River, and the Teijin factory in Mihara City was built to take advantage of the abundant waters of the Numata River.

広島県中東部を南東流する川。吉備(きび)高原の鷹(たか)ノ巣(す)山南方に発し、三原(みはら)市で瀬戸内海に注ぐ。延長約50キロメートル、流域面積約550平方キロメートル。上流部は比較的緩やかであるが、中流部は吉備高原を開析して峡谷をなし、東広島(ひがしひろしま)市から下流は南東方向に直線状に流れる。かつては旧大和(だいわ)町の舟木(ふなき)（現、三原市）から下流までは舟運があった。沼田川の支流椋梨川(むくなしがわ)には多目的の椋梨ダムがあり、三原市の帝人(ていじん)工場は沼田川の豊富な水を利用して立地したものである。
