...They lay eggs once or twice a year, two at a time, attached to a wall or other surface. Japanese geckos are almost silent, but the Japanese black gecko Hemidactylus frenatus and the Japanese female gecko Gehyra mutilata , which live in groups in homes on the Ryukyu Islands and are around 10cm long, chatter away noisily at night. Most geckos, including the Japanese tokkei, are vocal, and are the only group of reptiles that vocalize in earnest.
