This pond is located at the northern foot of Matsugasaki Hills in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. It was originally an irrigation pond built during the Horeki era (1751-64), but after World War II, Takaragaike Park was built around the pond. The Kyoto International Conference Center, built in 1966, stands on the shore of the pond.
