A colonial company established by Prime Minister Richelieu in 1627 to promote the development of New France, a French colony in North America. It was also called the "Company of the Hundred" because it had 100 shareholders. The company was given a 15-year monopoly on the fur trade in New France and Acadia, and in return was tasked with sending a total of 4,000 settlers, governing the colony, and supporting the activities of the Catholic Church. However, shortly after its establishment, Quebec was occupied by the British army in 1629, which created many obstacles to colonial management, and the Company was unable to achieve its original purpose. During that time, the rights were lent to various private companies, and the company's charter was revoked in 1663, when the population of New France was said to be only 2,500 people.
