(Ishana is a transliteration of Īśāna. It is also written as Izanā or Ina, and abbreviated as Isha. It means ruler.) A Buddhist term. He is the lord of the sixth heaven of the desire realm, and is also called Mahajirāten (Makeishurāten) . In the Taizōkai Mandala of Esoteric Buddhism, he is placed at the head of the outer Kongōin temple. He is one of the twelve heavenly beings, and is a guardian deity of the northeast, and is said to be black-blue in colour, with three angry eyes and upward - pointing tusks , a skull garland around his neck, a plate filled with blood in his left hand, a spear in his right hand, and ride a yellow ox.
