The central area of the former Nakata Town in the northern part of Tome City, northeastern Miyagi Prefecture. Former name of the town. In 1956 it was merged with three neighboring villages to form Nakata Town. The Omote-ya in the south is said to have been the residence of Fujiwara Hidehira's vassals, and after the downfall of the Fujiwara clan it was the residence of Ishinomori, a vassal of the Kasai clan. During the Sendai Domain era it was a market town. Even now, a market is held here, and commerce with the surrounding rural areas is thriving.
