Japanese: 乳汁分泌不全症 - にゅうじゅうぶんぴつふぜんしょう（英語表記）hypogalactia

This refers to a state in which milk secretion is insufficient even after delivery and the stage at which the newborn is to be breastfed is over. The normal amount of milk to be fed at one time is considered to be 30-60 ml at about one week after birth, 60-90 ml at two weeks, and 90-120 ml at three weeks. Whether or not there is insufficient breast milk and its level can be judged from the following: (1) the newborn's weight is measured before and after feeding, and the amount of milk to be fed at one time is calculated from the difference, but the amount does not reach the normal amount mentioned above, (2) even if the newborn is breastfed for more than 20 minutes at a time, the newborn does not show a feeling of fullness, cries soon after feeding, and sleeps lightly, and (3) the amount of formula that needs to be added until the newborn shows a feeling of fullness.

分娩がすみ，新生児に母乳を与える段階になっても，乳汁分泌量が不十分な状態をいう。正常な1回哺乳量は，生後1週間くらいで30～60ml，2週間で60～90ml，3週間で90～120mlとされている。母乳が足りないかどうかということやその程度は，(1)新生児の体重を哺乳の前後に測り，その差から1回の哺乳量を算出するが，その量が上記の正常量に達しない，(2)1回に20分以上哺乳しても，新生児は満腹感を示さず，授乳後すぐに泣き，眠りが浅い，(3)満腹感を示すまでに加える必要のある人工乳の量，などから判断される。
