A port city in northern Ohio, USA. It is located on the shores of Lake Erie. A British fort was built in 1761, and Connecticut residents settled in large numbers in 1813, followed by German immigrants between 1840 and 1860. It developed as a distribution center for lumber and agricultural products. Today, industries such as auto parts, rubber, and paper are thriving, and it is a shipping port for products.
