Rain Shadow Desert

...Arid regions can also be found in high latitudes such as Antarctica and in high mountain regions, and are called cold deserts; however, these regions are often not classified as "deserts" because their cold characteristics outweigh their arid characteristics.
[Cause]
Deserts can be classified according to their origin into four types: subtropical deserts, coastal cool deserts, rain shadow deserts, and continental interior deserts. Many of the world's deserts are the result of two or three of these causes.
