A Yoruba kingdom that flourished in Ife, western Nigeria. According to a Yoruba legend, Ife is the place where Oduduwa, the son of God, was sent by God to descend from heaven and become the ancestor of mankind. The Kingdom of Ife was founded by Oduduwa, and subsequent kings were said to be his descendants. It was formed by around the 11th century and was destroyed in the 19th century.
