...However, after 1913, Western film distribution networks took over, and foreign film imports became the norm. During this difficult time, producers and directors such as Raymond Longford (c. 1873-1959) produced masterpieces such as the film adaptation of C. Dennis's The Sentimental (1919) and S. Ladd's On Our Farm (1920). By the time of the second cultural boom in the 1970s, a total of over 500 feature films had been produced.
