She first served Emperor Nijō, and later served Emperor Gotoba's Empress Ninshi (Gishūmon'in), and was active as a poet for a long period of time, appearing in such works as the Shōji Hatsudo Hyakushu (Shoji First One Hundred Poems) in 1200 and the Sengohyakuban Utaawase (Sengohyakuban Utaawase) in 1203. Her most famous work is "My sleeves are invisible at low tide, the people on the rocks offshore do not know, and they have no time to dry," which was included in the Hyakunin Isshu. After this poem, she was also called "Sanuki, the rocks offshore." Her family anthology includes the Nijōin Sanukishu, and 72 of her poems (excluding duplicates) have been collected in imperial anthologies such as the Senzai Wakashu. <References> Morimoto Motoko, Nijōin Sanuki to sono hanakanai (Nijōin Sanuki and its Surroundings)
