Nijo [town] - Nijo
An old town in Itoshima County facing Karatsu Bay on the western edge of Fukuoka Prefecture. It is mostly an agricultural and fishing village, with rice, strawberries, and mandarin oranges being cultivated. The main settlement, Fukae, is a former post town and fishing port. The coast is included in the Genkai Quasi-National Park, and there is also a swimming beach. The Chikuhi Line runs through the town, and many people commute to Fukuoka City. In January 2010, it merged with Maebaru City and Shima Town, Itoshima County, to form Itoshima City. 57.07 km2 . Population: 13,409 (2005).

福岡県西端,唐津湾に臨む糸島郡の旧町。ほとんど農漁村で,米,イチゴ,ミカン栽培が盛ん。主集落の深江は旧宿場町で漁港。海岸は玄海国定公園に含まれ,海水浴場もある。筑肥線が通じ,福岡市への通勤者も多い。2010年1月前原市,糸島郡志摩町と合併,糸島市となる。57.07km2。1万3409人(2005)。
