[Events and Competition Methods]
The standard size of the arena is 60m x 30m. Figure skating is broadly divided into compulsory figures (also called school figures), which are drawn according to set shapes, and free skating, which is based on those shapes. There are also four other events: single skating, which is done by individuals; pair skating, which is done by a pair of men and women; ice dancing, which is done by a pair of men and women; and group skating, which consists of up to 24 men and women.
