A Chinese magazine on literary theory. First published in September 1949. Edited by Ding Ling and others at first, it started out as a bimonthly publication. In 1952, Feng Xuefeng took over, but in 1954 his editorial policy was criticized and he retired, after which publication was temporarily suspended. In 1957, Zhang Guangnian became editor-in-chief, and under the responsibility of the Chinese Writers Association, it was relaunched as a leading magazine on Chinese literary theory, focusing on literary and artistic critiques. It became a monthly from 1961, and ceased publication with the June 1966 issue during the Cultural Revolution, but was relaunched in January 1978.
