Nanyo - Nanyo

A prefecture-level city in the southwest of Henan Province, China. It is located in the river valley basin in the middle reaches of the Baihe River, a tributary of the Han River. It has jurisdiction over 10 counties, including two city districts, Fangcheng, and Tanghe (as of 2016). Its population is 10,107,500 (2016). In 1949, the city was separated from the urban area of ​​Nanyang County. The city is bounded by the Jiaozi Line (Jiaozuo-Liuzhou) from north to south and the Ningxi Line (Nanjing-Xian) from east to west, and is home to Nanyang Airport. In addition to the traditional silk weaving industry, food processing, machinery, and alcohol industries are also developed. Nanyang silk and jade are its specialties. Agriculture, forestry, and the production of Chinese herbal medicines are also thriving. At Wolonggang in the western suburbs is the Wuhou Shrine, dedicated to Zhuge Kongming (also known as Zhuge Liang).

中国、河南(かなん)省南西部の地級市。漢水(かんすい)の支流、白河(はくが)の中流域の河谷盆地に位置する。2市轄区、方城(ほうじょう)、唐河(とうが)など10県を管轄する（2016年時点）。人口1010万7500（2016）。1949年、南陽県の市街地を分離して市が設けられた。市域は、南北に焦柳線（焦作(しょうさく)―柳州(りゅうしゅう)）が、東西に寧西線（南京(ナンキン)―西安(せいあん)）が通じ、南陽空港がある。伝統的工業の絹織物工業のほか、食品加工、機械、アルコール工業などが発展している。「南陽綢(ちゅう)（絹織物）」や「南陽玉器」が特産。農業や林業、漢方薬材の生産も盛んである。西郊の臥竜崗(がりょうこう)には、諸葛孔明(しょかつこうめい)（諸葛亮(しょかつりょう)）を祀(まつ)った武侯祠(ぶこうし)がある。
