[1] 〘 noun 〙① A device to prevent the fields from being destroyed by birds and animals. A rope is stretched between short bamboo tubes on a small board, or a rope is attached to the end of a bamboo pole, and the rope is pulled from a distance to make a sound. HIKIITA. HITA. 《Season・Autumn》※Rinyoshu (1178) Autumn “Evening, far away, the people who own the fields are in a hurry, and the birds become like birds.”② A device similar to ①, with bamboo tubes or bells hung from a small board, that rings when the rope is pulled to call people or send a signal. ※Zappai・Takara no Ichi (1705) “When the retired man pulls the clapper, it becomes a tobacco tray.”③ A device placed at the boat dock at the Okabasho in Fukagawa, Edo, that rings to signal the teahouse when a boat carrying customers arrives. ※Sakebon Shikake Bunko (1791) autobiography: "At the sound of the clapper , the gods fly away, and all play is treated as if they were three opposing sides." ④ Abbreviation of "Narukouri ( Narukouri )." ※Zappai Yanagitaru-Kyukyu (1828) "Tateshima no Sorehide Naruko departs for Edo" [2] Kyogen. Izumi-Sagiryu. Tarokaja and Jirokaja, who came to Yamada to chase birds, drink the sake brought by their master, pull the clapper and sing a short song, but soon get drunk and go to bed. [1] 〘名〙① 田畑が鳥獣に荒らされるのを防ぐためのしかけ。短い竹筒を小さな板に掛け連ね、その板に縄を張ったり、竹ざおの先につけ綱をつけたりして、遠くから縄や綱を引いて鳴らすもの。ひきいた。ひた。《季・秋》※林葉集（1178）秋「夕まぐれ遠の山田をもる人もいなおほせ鳥になるこ引めり」② ①に似せて小さい板に竹筒や鈴などをつるし、綱を引くと鳴るしかけの、人を呼んだり合図を送ったりするもの。※雑俳・たからの市（1705）「隠居から鳴子を引けばたばこ盆」③ 江戸、深川の岡場所で、舟着き場に置いて、客を乗せた舟が着くと茶屋へ合図のために鳴らしたもの。※洒落本・仕懸文庫（1791）自叙「鳴子(ナルコ)の音に神(しん)を飛し、一切(ひときり)遊びは対面の三方のごとく扱れ」④ 「なるこうり（成子瓜）」の略。※雑俳・柳多留‐九九（1828）「立て島の揃ひでなるこ江戸へ出る」[2] 狂言。和泉・鷺流。山田に鳥追いに来た太郎冠者・次郎冠者は、主人が持ってきてくれた酒を飲み、鳴子を引いては小歌をうたうが、間もなく酔って寝込んでしまう。江戸初期、「大蔵虎明本」に見られる。
