Narcovie - Narcovie
A perennial grass (illustration) that grows in fields and riverbanks. It produces clumps, with stems that branch at the base, reach heights of 40-90cm, are hairy, and bear inflorescences at the end. The leaves are mostly basal, linear, 10-30cm long, about 1cm wide, dark green, and long hairy. It blooms from summer to autumn. The inflorescence is a raceme with 4-7 branches slanted to one side on a central axis 7-10cm long, with the tip of the inflorescence slightly tilted toward the branch, and is named Naruko-hime because of its resemblance to a clapper. The spikelets are arranged in two rows on the underside of the branches, have short stalks, are 4.5mm long, ovoid, yellow-green, and hairy.
