Tokuji Namizaki
A shamisen player and composer of Tomimoto-bushi. There were seven generations, but the first, third and seventh generations are the most famous. (1) First (?-1810 (Bunka 7)): Formerly known as Nishikawa Tokuji. Played the tachi-shamisen for Tomimoto Toyoshidayu (the second Tomimoto Bunzendayu) from 1772 (An'ei 1). Active until 1794 (Kansei 6). His compositions are believed to include "Sumo," "Oshidori," "Kurama Lion," "Sono Omokage Asamaga Dake," "Mushi Seller," and "Migari Otoshi." He contributed to the completion of Tomimoto-bushi. (2) Second: Son of the first. Date of birth and death unknown.

富本節の三味線方,作曲家。7世まであるが初世,3世,7世が有名。(1)初世(?‐1810(文化7)) 前名西川徳治。1772年(安永1)から富本豊志太夫(2世富本豊前太夫)の立三味線。94年(寛政6)まで活躍。作曲作品と推定されるのは《相撲》《鴛鴦(おしどり)》《鞍馬獅子》《其俤浅間嶽(そのおもかげあさまがだけ)》《虫売》《身替りお俊》など。富本節の完成に功績があった。(2)2世 初世の子。生没年不詳。
