A general term for harpsichord (clubbing) composers of the French Baroque period from the 17th to 18th centuries. French music during the Louis Dynasty reached a golden age centered around the Palace of Versailles and Paris, and clubbing music, which appeared to replace the lute music that was popular during the Renaissance, is as important as religious and secular vocal music, opera, and organ music. This school of music began with Chambonnières, influenced by the English virginal school, and was passed down to his pupil Jean Henri d'Anglebert (1628-91), Louis Couperin (c. 1626-61), his nephew F. Couperin, and finally to Rameau.

17～18世紀，フランス･バロック期のクラブサン(ハープシコード)音楽作曲家の総称。ルイ王朝期のフランス音楽はベルサイユ宮とパリを中心として一つの黄金時代を迎えたが，宗教的および世俗的な声楽曲，歌劇，オルガン音楽などと並んで重要なのは，ルネサンス時代に盛んだったリュート音楽に代わって登場してきたクラブサン音楽である。この楽派はイギリスのバージナル楽派の影響のもと，シャンボニエールに始まり，その弟子ダングルベールJean Henri d’Anglebert(1628‐91)，クープランLouis Couperin(1626ころ‐61)，その甥F.クープラン，そしてラモーへと受け継がれていく。
