Book of Zechariah

Book of Zechariah
A book of the Old Testament. One of the 12 minor prophets from the late exile period. It consists of two completely unrelated parts. The first half (chapters 1-8) is a collection of Zechariah's prophecies, and chapters 9 and after are by another prophet (chapters 9-11 are called 2 Zechariah, and chapters 12-14 are called 3 Zechariah). After the return from the Babylonian exile, Jerusalem was in a difficult situation and the work of rebuilding the temple was suspended. Guided by the words of the Lord and eight visions that came to Zechariah, he explained that the seeds of peace and prosperity for the people of Israel lay in the rebuilding of the temple, the house of the Lord of hosts, that is, when the people return to the Lord and the house of the Lord is built in Jerusalem, the Lord will return to Zion, and Jerusalem will be called a faithful city, and the cities will be full of good things, which greatly contributed to the resumption of the work. The second half contains two oracles. The first contains prophecies about events occurring in the late 4th to early 3rd centuries B.C., such as the fall of Tyre and the liberation from the Babylonian captivity, while the latter contains prophecies about the attacks on Jerusalem by the nations and its protection and final victory by the Lord's power.
