Delta wing

...To reduce the wave resistance that occurs at supersonic speeds, it is best to make the wing long and slender, and if possible, make the sweepback angle of the leading edge sharper than the angle of the shock wave. For this reason, delta wings, which combine a sharp sweepback angle with a small aspect ratio, are often used in supersonic aircraft (Figure 6-f). The aerodynamic center of a delta wing is located at about 50% of the aerodynamic mean chord (about 2/3 of the way from the center chord) at both subsonic and supersonic speeds, and has the advantage of not moving much.
