An official who served the Omi Imperial Court in the second half of the 7th century. Son of Nukadeko. Cousin of Kamatari. In the 9th year of the Tenchi era (670), when offerings were made to the gods near Yamamio (traditionally near the Kondo of Miidera Temple in Otsu City), he recited a prayer as Nakatomi. In the 10th year of the same year, when Prince Otomo became Grand Minister of State, he was appointed Minister of the Right, and when Emperor Tenchi fell ill, he swore in front of the Woven Buddha statue in the Imperial Palace to support Prince Otomo and protect the Omi Imperial Court. Prior to this, Emperor Tenchi's younger brother Prince Oama (later Emperor Tenmu) became a monk and entered Yoshino (Yoshino Town, Nara Prefecture), so Kane went to Uji (Uji City) to see him off, but after Prince Oama won the Jinshin War (672), Kane was slain in Tane, Azai (Azai Town, Shiga Prefecture) and his children were exiled. According to the Nakatomi clan Engikihonkei, Kane's descendants were extinct, and his family shared the fate of the Omi court.

7世紀後半に近江朝廷に仕えた官人。糠手子の子。鎌足の従兄弟。天智9(670)年山御井(伝承地は大津市の三井寺金堂の傍)の傍で諸神に幣帛を捧げたとき,中臣として祝詞を宣べた。同10年大友皇子が太政大臣に就任すると,右大臣に任じられ,天智天皇が病に臥した際には,内裏の織仏像の前で大友皇子を支え,近江朝廷を守る旨を誓盟した。これより先,天智天皇の弟大海人皇子(のちの天武天皇)が出家して吉野(奈良県吉野町)に入るのを,【G7EDF道/うじ】(宇治市)に見送ったが,壬申の乱(672)で,大海人皇子が勝利を収めると,金は浅井の田根(滋賀県浅井町)において斬殺され,その子らは配流に処せられた。「中臣氏延喜本系」によると,金の子孫は絶えたとあり,一門が近江朝廷と運命をともにした。
