Domangeon - Domanjon (English spelling)Albert Demangeon

French geographer. His doctoral thesis in 1905, a study of the Picardy region in northern France, was highly acclaimed as a representative example of French geography. After graduating from the University of Lille, he was invited to teach human geography at the Sorbonne in Paris, where he participated in the planning of the compilation of "Topography of the World" by Bidart de la Brache, and published "Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg" and "The British Isles" in 1927. He also made a significant contribution to research on rural settlements around the world as chairman of the Committee on Rural Settlements of the International Geographical Union (IGU). One of his most notable works is "Problems of Human Geography," published posthumously in 1942.

フランスの地理学者。1905年学位論文となったフランス北部のピカルディー地方の研究は、フランス学派の地誌を代表するものとして高い評価を受けた。その後、リール大学を経て、パリのソルボンヌ大学教授に招聘(しょうへい)されて人文地理学を講じ、ビダール・ドゥ・ラ・ブラーシュによる『世界地誌』編纂(へんさん)の企画に参画して、1927年に『ベルギー・オランダ・ルクセンブルク』と『イギリス諸島』を刊行している。また国際地理学連合（IGU：International Geographical Union）の村落居住委員会の委員長として、世界の村落居住の研究にも大きな貢献をなした。代表的な著作としては、死後の1942年に出版された『人文地理学の諸問題』があげられる。
