Otomo Fuke

Japanese: 大伴吹負 - おおとものふけい
Otomo Fuke

A military commander in the late 7th century. Also written as Otoko Fukiage or Ko Fukiage. Son of Kuiko. Father of Ushikai and grandfather Ojimaro. He retreated from the Omi court to Yamato (Yamato) and experienced the Jinshin War (672). His elder brother Makuta joined the army of Prince Oama (Emperor Tenmu), while Fukiage stayed behind and ordered his relatives Otomo Yasumaro, Yamato no Aya clan, Hata clan, and others to raid the camp of the Tomari no Tsukasa (Lord Takasago) King and others at Asukadera, and occupied the ancient capital of Asuka. Due to this achievement, he was appointed Shogun, and organized his military system by adding powerful clans such as the Miwa and Kamo clans to his ranks, and had them defend the Tatsuta Road, the Osaka Road (Anamushigoe), and the Ishite Road (Takenouchi Kaido), while he himself was stationed at Narayama. He was defeated by the army of the Omi Court, but with reinforcements he fought in Taima and Nakamichi, and pacified the Yamato lands. He then went to Naniwa and ordered the provincial governors to the west to present him with keys, station bells, and seals. His highest official position during the reign of Emperor Tenmu was Hitachi no Kami. After his death, he was awarded the rank of Daikinchu.
