It is located in Taima-cho, Kitakatsuragi-gun, Nara Prefecture (now Katsuragi City). This temple is dedicated to both the Koyasan Shingon and Jodo sects. It is said that Prince Maroko founded Manpozo-in in Kawachi Province in 612, and later moved it to its current location and renamed Taima-dera, but the layout of the temple buildings suggests that it was founded in the Nara period. Since the Kamakura period, it has flourished as a sacred place of Pure Land Buddhism centered on the Taima Mandala, and is also known for the legend of Princess Chujohime. A Nerikuyo ceremony is held on May 14th, which recreates the scene of the coming of the deity. In addition to the main hall, east pagoda, and west pagoda, which are all national treasures, the temple is home to many important cultural properties. → Related topics Otsu Road | Kondo | Taima Town Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
