A bird of the hawk family. Its wingspan is 50cm. Its whole body is dark brown, and unlike other hawks, its tail is wedge-shaped. It is widely distributed in Eurasia, Africa, Australia, New Guinea, etc., and in Japan it is a resident bird throughout the country, especially on the coasts near small mountains. It builds large nests from dead branches on top of tall trees. It rarely catches live animals, but feeds on mice and dead fish.
