Solo River (English spelling) Bengawan Solo

Japanese: ソロ[川]（英語表記）Bengawan Solo

The largest river on the island of Java, Indonesia, flows from central to eastern Java. It is 540 km long and has a drainage area of approximately 15,000 km2. It originates at the southern foot of the Rau volcano, flows north, passes east of the city of Surakarta, then turns northeast, passes the remains of the Java Man at Trinil, and ends at Nawi. The main stream continues northeast, forming a delta north of Surabaya and flowing into the Java Sea. The slope is slight from the midstream onwards (Nawi is 46m above sea level), so the river meanders and combines large and small tributaries. The water is generally shallow, and the water volume fluctuates depending on the season, but it has been used for irrigation and transportation as it flows through fertile plains with a large population.
