When a large number of ships are needed, such as during wartime, they are built in units of tens or hundreds of ships with the same specifications and designs. Representative examples include the Liberty Ships, which were standard wartime cargo ships built by the United States from 1941 to make up for the loss of ships during World War II, and their improved Victory Ships.
