The classification of land based on its homogeneity. Around the 1930s, there was a growing interest in the need to focus on the differences in natural productivity of land and to use the land rationally based on that, mainly in Europe and the United States, and since then, agriculturalists and geographers have been developing classification methods. Land classification uses one indicator or a combination of multiple indicators, and land units are set based on their homogeneity. The results are concretely displayed on a map, and the contents of the land units must be explained based on the classification system. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
