…By the time the Russians arrived in the mid-17th century, there was already a distinction between reindeer Koryaks and coastal Koryaks (sedentary Koryaks). The former called themselves Chavchyv and lived inland, specializing in reindeer herding. The latter called themselves Nymylyn.
