Fujimi [village] - Fujimi

Japanese: 富士見[村] - ふじみ

A village in Seta County, central Gunma Prefecture. Population 19,362 (1995). Located from the summit of Mount Akagi to the southwestern foot of the mountain, bordering Maebashi City to the south. Silkworm farming has been popular since ancient times, and in the early Meiji period, the town produced the dedicated farmer Funatsu Denjihei, who worked to popularize cultivation techniques. Since the completion of the Gunma Irrigation System in 1969, vegetable cultivation such as spinach and radishes, as well as livestock farming, has increased. There are also many commuters to Maebashi City. The area around the summit of Mount Akagi has been designated a prefectural park, and since the prefectural Akagi Toll Road was opened to the O-hora at the top of the mountain in 1966, it has rapidly become a tourist destination.

群馬県中央部，勢多郡の村。人口1万9362(1995)。赤城山の山頂部からそのすそ野の南西部にわたって位置し，南は前橋市に接する。古くから養蚕が盛んで，明治初期には栽培技術の普及などに努めた篤農家船津伝次平が出ている。1969年に群馬用水が完成してからはホウレンソウ，ダイコンなどの野菜栽培や畜産が増えている。また前橋市への通勤者も多い。赤城山山頂部一帯は県立公園に指定され，66年に山頂の大洞まで県営赤城有料道路が開通してから，急速に観光地化した。
