Japanese: 東伯[町] - とうはく

An old town in Tohaku District, central Tottori Prefecture. It is made up of the Kaseichi River basin and the foot of Mt. Daisen, and is served by the San'in Main Line. The main settlement, Urayasu, developed as a market town. Yabase was a castle town in the early feudal period. Dairy cow breeding is popular, and dairy products and millet crackers for souvenirs are produced. Nijisseiki pear cultivation and agricultural and livestock product processing are also active. The ruins of Saio Temple (a special historic site) and the Hoki chestnut tree (a natural monument) are located here. In September 2004, it merged with Akasaki Town, Tohaku District, to form Kotoura Town. ^{82.20 km2} . Population 12,323 (2003).

鳥取県中部，東伯郡の旧町。加勢蛇(かせいち)川流域と大山(だいせん)の裾野(すその)からなり，山陰本線が通じる。主集落浦安は市場町として発達。八橋(やばせ)は藩政時代前期の城下町。乳牛の飼育が盛んで，乳製品やみやげ用粟(あわ)おこしを生産。二十世紀ナシの栽培，農畜産物加工も活発。斉尾(さいのお)廃寺跡（特別史跡），伯耆(ほうき)の大シイ（天然記念物）がある。2004年９月東伯郡赤碕町と合併し，琴浦町となる。82.20km²。１万2323人（2003）。
