Kabuki Kyogen. Historical piece. 9 acts. Commonly known as "Shihei's Seven Laughs." As written next to the title, it was first performed at the Ogawa Kichitaro Theater in Osaka (Kado no Shibai) in April 1777 (An'ei 6), which was the 875th anniversary of Sugawara no Michizane's death. Written by Namiki Gohei, Nakamura Akei, Tatsuoka Mansaku and others. The cast includes the first Onoe Kikugorou as Sugawara no Shosho and Takebe Genzo, the first Arashi Hinasuke as his aunt Kakuju and the left minister Tokihira, the first Misumasu Daigoro as Hajinobe, Shirotafu, Hosshobo and Kino Haseyu, Ogawa Kichitaro as Sukune Taro and Toneri Zoshuomaru, the first Sawamura Kunitaro as Matsugetsu-ni, the lady-in-waiting Jurokuya and Genzo's wife Tonami, Sawamura Chidori as Prince Saiyo, Fujikawa Ryuzo as the acting judge Terukuni, Misumasu Matsugoro as Ran no Chujo and Harufuji Genba, the second Misumasu Tanin as Miyoshi Kiyotsuka and Shirotafu's son Arata Tōta, Bandō Iwagoro as the left middle officer Mareyoshi, Yamashina Jinkichi as Shirotafu's daughters Koiso and Beniumehime, the first Misumasu Tokujiro as Sukune's wife Kozakura and Haseyu's wife Nagisa, and Onoe Ushinosuke as Suga Shusai.
