[1] A shrine located in Tenjinbashi, Kita-ku, Osaka. Former prefectural shrine. The deities enshrined are Sugawara no Michizane, Nomi no Sukune no Mikoto , Tajikarao no Mikoto , and Sarutahiko no Mikoto . It is said to have been founded in 953 by imperial decree of Emperor Murakami. Former Nakajimago Sosha. The Tenjin Festival held on July 25th is one of the three major festivals in Japan, and is known for its magnificent boat procession. Osaka Tenmangu. Tenman Tenjin. Tenma no Tenjin -san . Tenmagu. Said to have been founded by Michizane's third son Michitake during the Engi era ( 901-923 ), it was originally located in Honjuku (Kokubunji City/Fuchu City), but moved to its current location during the Youwa era ( 1181-82 ). [一] 大阪市北区天神橋にある神社。旧府社。祭神は菅原道真、野見宿禰命(のみのすくねのみこと)、手力雄命(たぢからおのみこと)、猿田彦命(さるだひこのみこと)。天暦七年（九五三）村上天皇の勅によって創立したと伝えられる。旧中島郷総社。七月二五日に行なわれる天神祭は日本三大祭の一つで、華麗な船渡御で知られる。大阪天満宮。天満天神。天満(てんま)の天神さん。てんまぐう。[二] 群馬県桐生市天神町にある神社。旧県社。祭神は天穂日命(あめのほひのみこと)、菅原道真。景行天皇の頃の開創と伝えられ、磯部明神と呼ばれたが、のち桐生氏が北野神社を勧請合祀して改称。桐生天満宮。[三] 東京都国立市谷保にある神社。旧府社。祭神は菅原道真・菅原道武。延喜年間（九〇一‐九二三）道真の第三子道武の創立と伝えられ、もと本宿（国分寺市・府中市）にあったが、養和年間（一一八一‐八二）現在地に移る。谷保天満宮。谷保天神。[四] 高知市天神町にある神社。旧県社。祭神は菅原道真・高視朝臣・北御方。延喜年間（九〇一‐九二三）の創立と伝えられる。潮江天神。潮江天満宮。[五] (神霊となって天満宮にまつられたところから) 菅原道真をいう。※都名所図会（1780）二「天満宮降誕之地」
