...It is a mix of fact and fiction about the introduction of Christianity during the Koji era (1555-58), the sectarian debate between Christianity and Buddhism, the persecution of Christians, the Amakusa-Shimabara Rebellion, etc., and was written from the standpoint of justifying the shogunate's policy of national isolation and spreading the view of Christianity as a heretical sect among the people. It was reprinted in 1565 (Kanbun 5) as "The Tale of the Extermination of Christians." It is included in "Zokuzoku Gunsho Ruiju." ...
