Tengger Mountains - Tenggersanchi (English spelling) Tengger

Japanese: テンゲル山地 - てんげるさんち（英語表記）Tengger

A mountainous region in the eastern part of Java, Indonesia. It is made up of a group of volcanoes with caldera topography stretching 10 km from east to west and 8 km from north to south. Mount Bromo (2,581 meters) is the central crater cone, surrounded by somma mountains, including the highest peak, Penanjakan (2,770 meters). The inside of the caldera is a desert-like terrain, but at the foot of the somma, plantation agriculture such as natural rubber and coffee has developed. To the south of this mountain range rises Mount Semeru (3,676 meters), the highest peak on Java.

インドネシア、ジャワ島東部の山地。東西10キロメートル、南北8キロメートルに及ぶカルデラ地形の火山群からなる。ブロモ火山（2581メートル）を中央火口丘として、その周縁を最高峰のペナンジャカン（2770メートル）をはじめとする外輪山が囲む。カルデラ内は砂漠状の地形をなすが、外輪山の山麓(さんろく)では天然ゴム、コーヒーなどのプランテーション農業が発達している。この山地の南にはジャワ島の最高峰スメル火山（3676メートル）がそびえる。
